HIV, Parkinson’s and Sjogren’s disease also cause the salivary glands to produces less saliva. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause dry mouth along with nerve damage to the head and neck.
Tips for managing dry mouth.
· Drink more water throughout the day
· Suck on sugar free candies
· Add more sauce or gravy to your meals
· Avoid mouth rinses with alcohol
· Avoid caffeinated and alcoholic beverages
· Don’t smoke
